A touch of Spain!

Have you ever been to Spain? We went two years ago to celebrate my daughter’s sweet sixteen. We had an amazing time! The food was the most memorable part of the trip. We knew we wanted a foodie experience. We picked an apartment right in front of the San Miguel Market. We went daily! We also took a cooking class and made a delicious paella in a rooftop kitchen. The rest of the time was spent sight seeing, going to restaurants and even grocery shopping (in awe at their markets) so we can cook at home.

Paella making class

The trip was short and soon after we came home, we missed the food! It lead me on a hunt for some groceries so we can replicate some of the meals. Well…..I found Noamar Markets! And my life has never been the same!!

It’s located in the heart of Babylon Village on Long Island. Not only can you buy market goods imported from Spain, but you can eat fresh cooked, delicious food there.

The market has a variety of dry goods like Bomba rice for your paellas, quince paste for your meat and cheese platters, wine from Spain and meats and cheeses. Do yourself a favor and get manchego cheese, chorizo and the famous ibérico ham or a version if it!!

Shopping at Noamar Market

The biggest surprise was that we could eat there. Totally unexpected and we decided to try it. Well….we had no idea we in for such a treat. Now we are regulars there! We often take friends there to show off “our place”!

The charcuterie platters are a great starter. Make sure you get the manchego cheese and the ham. the quince spread on bread and topped with the ham and cheese is the perfect bite!

Noamar Market

I have two favorite meals and can never pick one. So I make my husband get one and I get the other that way I can eat both! Lol.

One of the dishes is the Tortilla Española. It’s a staple in Spain that we enjoyed very much at the famous Bar Cerveriz in Madrid. Noamar‘s take is an individual portion which is perfection. A piping hot omelette loaded with potatoes, onions and optional chorizo. It’s topped with roasted bell peppers and served with a bowl of delicate greens in the best dressing I’ve ever had! super simple dish but amazing!

The other is the Carne Asada. It’s the most delicious, perfectly cooked skirt steak. Best I’ve ever had! It’s served on a bed of lettuce that gets “cooked” with the heat of the steak and topped with the tastiest chimichurri sauce.

We went yesterday on ”Sunday funday” and ventured out on the menu. We tried the camarones al ahillo. It was absolutely delicious! Make sure you have bread leftover to dip in that garlic sauce! I wanted to bring it home. Lol.

Don’t know what wine to pick? Ask our favorite waiter and one of the namesakes, Noa! he is so knowledgable about not only the food but Spain in general. He knows all the different regions and all their specialties.

Of course they serve Estrella, the best beer in Spain!

The desserts vary, make sure you get a cappuccino to finish the meal! It’s sooooo good.

Here is our daily breakfast in Spain.

I would say the dessert at Noamar is right up there!

Let me know if you go and what was your favorite meal.
