Holá Saboristas! You ever wonder what makes a some of the same foods tastes better than others? Dominicans call that Sazón! Or you can say Garlic Paste. We make Domincan Sazón in batches. There is never a meal made without sazón. It is literally the base to all my cooking. I use it to season all my meats, beans, stews….just about anything except seafood. I omit the oregano when cooking seafood. It is a much cleaner and delicate taste and look.
I get asked a lot about what I put in my food to make it taste better. Even at BBQs I get asked “What kind of chicken is this? Must be an expensive brand!” It’s not the kind of meats I buy. It is how I season my food! Dominican Sazón or garlic paste goes a looooong way in adding sabor to your foods! I used it here to season my ground meat.
Today, I am sharing my secret with you! Shhhhh. Don’t tell anyone else! Trust me, Keep this Domincan Sazón in your fridge or freezer at all times. Your family will thank me!
Storing it
It stores very well in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks. If you don’t use it as often as me, you can freeze in in cubes or you can add a little oil while blending. Place in a jar in the freezer. This will prevent it from fully solidifying. Then you can scrape bits as you need them. This will make your weeknight meals ymmy and easy!
The other secret not in the recipe is to always have limes on hand. Combine the two and you will not need anything else. I rarely grab any other spice. No preservatives needed in my kitchen. It is all fresh!
What will you use Domincan Sazón on? I love to hear all your ideas.
